The short version

Privacy is not fine print here. It is the design principle the whole practice is built on: our own product uses LiDAR instead of a camera precisely so a device can help someone without watching them. We hold ourselves to the same standard with your information. We collect only what we need to do the work you asked for, we do not sell it or share it for marketing, and we tell you plainly what we keep and why.

What we collect, and why

When you contact us

If you email us or reach out through a social page, we receive what you send: your name, your contact information, and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to respond and to do the work you asked about. Nothing else.

When you become a client

Consulting for families involves personal information by its nature: household details, health and mobility circumstances, care arrangements, and preferences. Some of what you share is sensitive. Our commitments:

• We collect it only from you and only for your engagement. Intake information exists to produce your Care Decision Plan or consultation summary, nothing more.
• We do not sell client information, ever, and we do not share it with product vendors, marketers, or data brokers.
• We do not accept commissions or referral fees from any product we recommend, so no company has a financial reason to want your information from us, and none gets it.
• We share client information only when you direct us to (for example, with a family member you name) or when the law requires it.
• You can ask what we have and ask us to delete it. Email us and we will confirm what we hold about you and remove it on request, except records we are required to keep for legal, tax, or insurance purposes.

When you visit our sites

Our sites are informational. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not set marketing cookies. Like almost every website, the servers that host our pages (including GitHub Pages, which hosts this page) keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and page requests, for security and operations. Those logs belong to the hosting providers and are governed by their policies, including GitHub's privacy statement.

When you interact with us on social media

Our pages on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram are governed by those platforms' own privacy policies in addition to this one. What you post publicly there is public. If you send us something private through a platform, we treat it as we treat email.

For organizations we evaluate

Materials a company shares with us for a DCAEF evaluation are used for that evaluation and are not shared with competitors or third parties without agreement. Evaluation reports state their evidence sources and disclose any conflict of interest, including self-evaluation, in a signed transparency note.

Service terms, in plain language

• What our advice is. Our consultations, Care Decision Plans, and evaluations are professional gerontechnology guidance: education and decision support grounded in research and 15 years of practice in aging services.
• What our advice is not. We do not provide medical, legal, or financial advice, and nothing we deliver is a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a substitute for one. Decisions about health care belong with you, your family, and your clinicians.
• Independence. We do not sell the products we recommend and we do not accept commissions, referral fees, or placement payments from vendors. When a recommendation appears in your plan, it is there because it fits your situation.
• Your choices stay yours. We lay out options and trade-offs. What to adopt, and whether to adopt anything, is always your decision. That is the point of the practice.
• Technology carries limits. No device prevents every fall or emergency. Recommendations reduce risk; they do not eliminate it, and we will not tell you otherwise.
• Payment and scheduling terms for a specific service (fees, credits toward later services, rescheduling) are stated with that service at booking.

Intellectual property notices

• The Gerontechnology Group name and the tree logo are trademarks of The Gerontechnology Group, LLC (trademark application on file with the USPTO).
• P.A.L.S. (Pet Awareness for Living Safely) is a working prototype with a United States patent application pending. Descriptions of P.A.L.S. describe the invention as built; features under consideration are identified as such.
• The Dignity-Centered AI Evaluation Framework (DCAEF), including its pillars, weights, criteria, and certification tiers, is the intellectual property of The Gerontechnology Group, LLC. Cite it with attribution and its version number. Commercial use, including use of the framework to evaluate or certify products, requires written permission.
• Media kit materials (bios, boilerplate, photos, and fact sheets published in this kit) may be used by press and partners for coverage of The Gerontechnology Group, with the photo credit provided.

The general parts

• Children. Our services and sites are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
• Security. We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.
• Changes. If this page changes in a way that matters, we will update the effective date at the top and note the change here. We will not quietly weaken a commitment made above.
• Governing law. The Gerontechnology Group, LLC is a Texas limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
